Expression of consent or dissent to the donation and organs that can be donated<\/strong><\/h1>\n

According to the law (no. 285\/2002 Coll.) in the Czech Republic the principle of presumed consent is applied. It deals with people who during their lifetime have not expressed clear opposition to the donation in writing and are registered in the National Register of people who disagree with posthumous donation. If no opposition has been provided, consent is presumed. In this case, healthcare providers shall maintain the anonymity of the deceased donor and eventually of the living donor, if he wants to.<\/p>\n

The dissent of a deceased donor<\/strong> is applied<\/p>\n

if the donor is registered in the National Register of people who disagree with post mortem donation,<\/p>\n

if the donor during his\/her lifetime has expressed his\/her dissent in the medical facility in front of the attending physician and one witness, or<\/p>\n

if the legal representative of a person who lacks full legal capacity has expressed his\/her dissent in the medical facility in front of the attending physician and one witness.<\/p>\n

Unidentified deceased people cannot donate organs or tissues.<\/p>\n

A living donor<\/strong> can be a person close to the recipient or not, if the donor has explicitly expressed his\/her will to donate an organ to that specific recipient. When it comes to donation to a person who\u2019s not close to the donor an Ethic Committee shall come together and approve the act.<\/p>\n

The most donated organs are heart, pancreas, liver and kidney.
